BUSI 2202: BLOG POST #7
Communicating news is really tough. It is tough at home at school or, at work. But if you do it in a way it can help people trust you it can stop people from getting confused and it can show that you care about others. The best way to communicate news is to be honest to be kind and to be clear.
First you need to get ready, before talking about something we need to take some time to understand what is going on and think about how other might react that news. After that, you should pick a time and place to talk like; in a private, quiet place. This shows that you are thinking about the person and it helps them feel more comfortable when they hear the bad news.
Second, be clear and honest with the person, do not be too harsh. When giving them the bad news avoid using words that makes no sense. This would be the reason that makes them feel more worried. At this time you should be kind and more understanding than before. You can say things, like "I know this is hard to hear" to show that you care about their feelings.
Third, listening what they want to say carefully. After you tell them the news let them ask questions or express their emotions. To listen actively look at them nod your head. Respond them in a thoughtful manner. This will make them feel more value and respected. If you can offer them some solutions, tell them what to do next. This can help them stop thinking about the problem and start thinking about how to move.
In conclusion delivering news does not have to hurt your relationships. When you share news with empathy, honesty and respect it can actually make people trust you more. It also shows that you are good at communicating. Bad news delivered in a way can bring people closer. It's all about being kind and truthful.
